Key takeaways

  • Yas Island in Abu Dhabi is home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, SeaWorld Yas Island and CLYMB.
  • Entry to the island is free; the parks and experiences are ticketed, and 2-park and 3-park combination tickets exist, with conditions that vary.
  • Yas Express is a free shuttle between points on the island; check its routes and times before relying on it.
  • Yas Island is about 110 to 120 km from Downtown Dubai by road, so two park days work better with a night in Abu Dhabi.

Yas Island theme parks: what is on the island

Yas Island is Abu Dhabi's entertainment island, on the eastern side of the city and close to Zayed International Airport. In a compact area it brings together five big attractions: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, SeaWorld Yas Island and CLYMB, the indoor climbing and skydiving centre. Around them you will find Yas Mall, Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the waterfront at Yas Bay and Yas Marina.

Getting onto the island is free. What you pay for are the parks, shows and experiences, each with its own ticket. That matters for planning: you can spend an evening at Yas Bay or Yas Marina without spending anything on entry, and keep the park tickets for the days that really suit your group.

The common mistake is to treat Yas as a single day out. With five major attractions, each needing several hours, the island rewards a little strategy. This guide compares the parks, explains how combination tickets and the free shuttle work, and shows how to fit Yas into a trip based in Dubai. If you are travelling with children, our guide to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with kids covers the wider family picture.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi: Formula Rossa and the other big rides

Ferrari World is the park most people picture when they think of Yas, thanks to its vast red roof. Inside, the headline is Formula Rossa: 240 km/h, from 0 to 240 km/h in about 4.9 seconds with a hydraulic launch. It was the world's fastest roller coaster from 2010 until the end of 2025, when Falcons Flight in Saudi Arabia opened at 250 km/h, and it remains the fastest in the UAE. Riders must be between 140 cm and 195 cm tall, and protective goggles are mandatory. Our guide to Formula Rossa covers it in detail.

There is plenty more for thrill-seekers. Flying Aces reaches 120 km/h and climbs to 63 metres, with the tallest non-inverting loop. Turbo Track rises vertically to 64 metres at 102 km/h, with a zero-gravity drop, and Mission Ferrari mixes 5D effects, launches and backwards sections. All three have a minimum height of 130 cm. The park also has gentler zones, so younger siblings are not left out.

Ferrari World is connected to Yas Mall, which makes it easy to combine with lunch, shopping or a session at CLYMB. Formula Rossa can close because of wind or maintenance, so check on the day before building the visit around it.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi: the indoor park for younger children

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is entirely indoors, themed and full of characters children already know. That combination makes it the easiest Yas park for families with younger children: there is no sun to fight, distances are manageable and the familiar faces keep small visitors engaged through the day.

It also works well for mixed groups, because adults who grew up with the same cartoons and films tend to enjoy it as much as their children. If you are travelling in the summer months, it is one of the attractions that works perfectly well in July, because everything happens under one roof.

As with every park on the island, rides have their own height and age rules. Check them on the official website before you promise anything to the children, and plan a lunch break: a full day indoors is still a full day on your feet.

Yas Waterworld, SeaWorld Yas Island and CLYMB

Yas Waterworld is the island's water park, with attractions for different thrill levels and a dedicated children's area. It is at its best in the cooler months, from about October to April, or early in the day. Bring swimwear, sun protection and a change of clothes, and plan for a long day: most families stay around six hours.

SeaWorld Yas Island is a marine life park with large indoor habitats, which makes it comfortable in any season. It suits all ages and is often the favourite of children who are not yet tall enough for the big coasters. Allow four to six hours to see it calmly.

CLYMB, at Yas Mall, offers indoor climbing and indoor skydiving. It is a shorter visit, usually two to four hours, and a good choice for active teenagers and adults on the day you also visit the mall or Ferrari World. Age, weight and health rules apply to the activities, so check them on the official website.

Yas Island combo tickets, the free shuttle and how many days you need

Combination tickets covering two or three parks are sold, and they can make sense if you are spending more than one day on the island. Conditions and prices vary, including how many days you have to use them and which parks are included, so compare the options on the official Yas Island website for your exact dates rather than relying on a figure you saw elsewhere.

Getting around the island is straightforward. Yas Express is a free shuttle that links points across Yas Island; check its current routes and times before you rely on it. With a private driver, you can move between parks, the mall and your hotel whenever you like, which helps a great deal with tired children at the end of the day.

As for time, one park a day is the comfortable rhythm. Two days on Yas let you combine an indoor park with the water park, or Ferrari World with SeaWorld. Three days are ideal for families with teenagers who want to see everything.

  • One day: choose a single park that fits your group, then Yas Bay or Yas Marina at sunset.
  • Two days: one indoor park plus Yas Waterworld, or Ferrari World plus SeaWorld.
  • Three days: a combo ticket and a night or two on the island.

Visiting Yas Island from Dubai, and the best time of year

Yas Island is about 110 to 120 km from Downtown Dubai by road. A day trip for one park is perfectly doable, but two park days in a row from Dubai mean a lot of driving with tired children. If Yas is a priority, a night or two in Abu Dhabi changes the experience: you start the parks fresh and end the day at Yas Bay or Yas Marina, public areas for a stroll, dinner and the sunset.

The best season is the cooler stretch from October to April, when the water park and the outdoor areas are pleasant. In the hot months, from June to September, lean on the indoor parks and keep the outdoor hours for the evening. Our guide to the best time to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi goes into the seasons in more detail.

Looking further ahead, Disney announced with Miral in 2025 a future theme park and resort on Yas Island. It is a project, not yet open, so it should not shape your current plans.

How High Class plans your Yas Island days

We start on WhatsApp with the questions that matter: the ages and heights of the children, who loves speed and who would rather avoid it, and how many days you can give the island. From there we suggest which parks fit, whether a combination ticket makes sense and whether a night in Abu Dhabi would make the trip easier.

We help you book the tickets for your dates, arrange a car with a driver from Dubai or your Abu Dhabi hotel, and plan the timing so you arrive at opening and leave before everyone is exhausted. We build in lunch breaks, rest time in the heat and an evening at Yas Bay or Yas Marina if you want one. Opening hours, ride availability and ticket conditions change, so we confirm everything for your date before the plan is set.

If you are travelling from the UK, the US or India

United Kingdom
The UAE is 4 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 3 hours ahead during British Summer Time, so children adjust quickly and a park day early in the trip is realistic. October half-term and the Easter holidays fall in the pleasant season, which is ideal for Yas Waterworld, but they are also busy, so book early. Entry rules depend on your passport: always confirm on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) and GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae) before you fly.
United States
With the UAE 8 or 9 hours ahead of the East Coast, children often wake very early for the first days. Use it: being at the gate when the park opens means shorter queues and cooler hours. Keep the second park day for later in the trip, when everyone has adjusted. Check your entry requirements on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) or GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae) before booking.
India
Abu Dhabi is only an hour and a half behind India, so there is no real jet lag. The long summer break falls in the hottest stretch of the year, so lean on the indoor parks then; Diwali and the winter holidays are ideal for Yas Waterworld but busy, so book early. Visa on arrival applies only to Indian passport holders with a valid visa or residence permit from the countries listed by the UAE government; otherwise arrange an e-visa before travel. Always confirm the current rules on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) and GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae).
