Theme parks and water parks in Dubai: the big picture
Dubai has theme parks for every kind of traveller, but they are spread across the city and each one needs most of a day. Choosing well saves you long drives and disappointed children. The main options fall into four groups: IMG Worlds of Adventure, a vast covered park; Dubai Parks and Resorts in Jebel Ali, with four parks side by side; Aquaventure World at Atlantis The Palm, the city's flagship water park; and Global Village, the seasonal evening favourite with pavilions from around the world.
Your choice depends on three things: the ages of your group, how much you want thrill rides and, above all, the time of year. In the cooler months from October to April almost everything works. In the summer, from June to September, the heat changes the game and the covered parks become the obvious choice.
This guide compares the parks, explains what each one is best for and shows how to plan the day around distance and heat. If you are also considering Abu Dhabi, our guide to the Yas Island theme parks covers Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and the rest, and our guide to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with kids looks at the whole family trip.
Which Dubai theme park is best? A quick comparison
Use this table to narrow things down, then read the details of each park below. Times are what we suggest allowing for a comfortable visit, not official limits.
| Park | Where | Indoors or outdoors | Best for | Time to allow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IMG Worlds of Adventure | City of Arabia | Indoors | Teenagers, Marvel and Cartoon Network fans, summer days | 4 to 8 hours |
| Dubai Parks and Resorts | Jebel Ali | Mostly outdoors | Families with children, a park per age group | 3 to 4 hours per park |
| Aquaventure World | Atlantis The Palm, Palm Jumeirah | Outdoors | Families and teenagers, cooler months | 5 to 7 hours |
| Global Village | Dubai, seasonal | Outdoors, evenings | All ages, food and culture | An evening |
IMG Worlds of Adventure: Dubai's covered theme park
IMG Worlds of Adventure is a theme park built entirely under one roof, in City of Arabia. That single fact makes it one of the most useful parks in Dubai: when it is too hot to be outside, you can still spend a full day on rides, in air-conditioning, without worrying about the sun.
The park is organised in themed zones, with areas based on Marvel and Cartoon Network characters that are especially popular with teenagers and older children. There are big coasters for thrill-seekers and calmer zones for younger visitors, so mixed-age families can split up and meet again for lunch. Some rides carry health restrictions, as at any major park, so check the rules if anyone in the group has a heart condition, back problems or is pregnant.
Allow anywhere from four to eight hours, depending on how many rides you want and how long the queues are. Weekday mornings are generally the calmest time to go, and school holidays the busiest.
Because it is covered, IMG Worlds of Adventure also works as a rescue plan. If a sandstorm, an unusually hot day or a cancelled outdoor activity leaves a gap in the itinerary, it is one of the few full-day options in Dubai that does not depend on the weather at all.

Dubai Parks and Resorts: LEGOLAND, MOTIONGATE and Real Madrid World
Out in Jebel Ali, Dubai Parks and Resorts groups four parks in one destination: MOTIONGATE Dubai, LEGOLAND Dubai, LEGOLAND Water Park and Real Madrid World. Each has a clear audience. LEGOLAND Dubai and LEGOLAND Water Park are built for younger children; MOTIONGATE Dubai tends to appeal more to older children and teenagers; Real Madrid World is a natural pick for football fans.
Single-park and combination tickets are sold, and combinations can make sense if you plan two parks in a day or across two days. Conditions and prices vary, so compare the current options on the official website for your dates. Allow three to four hours per park, which means two parks fit into a long day for energetic families.
The parks are largely outdoors, so the cooler months are the best time, and the morning is better than the afternoon in warmer weather. Jebel Ali is a fair drive from Downtown Dubai, which is another reason to go early and make a full day of it rather than squeezing it between other plans.

Aquaventure World at Atlantis The Palm: the giant water park
On Palm Jumeirah, Aquaventure World at Atlantis The Palm is the water park most visitors have in mind when they think of Dubai. Its operator presents it as the largest water park in the world, and it certainly feels enormous: this is a park where a full day passes quickly, and where it pays to arrive early and pick a shaded base for the group. The Atlantis complex also combines the water park with an aquarium, which gives younger visitors a quieter break between rides.
Plan for a long day: five to seven hours is typical, and many families stay until closing. Bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection and a change of clothes. As an outdoor park, it is at its best from October to April, or early in the day in warmer months.
The Palm is easy to combine with a sunset view from one of Dubai's observation decks, such as The View at The Palm, if anyone still has the energy after a day in the water.

Global Village: Dubai's seasonal evening park
Global Village is a different kind of park. Rather than a park built around rides, it is a seasonal open-air destination of pavilions from countries around the world, where the evening is about wandering, eating and browsing rather than queuing. It is best in the evening, when the temperature drops and the lights come on, and it works for every age, from toddlers to grandparents.
It opens every year in the cooler months. The 30th season ran from 15 October 2025 to 10 May 2026, and the following seasons follow a similar pattern, but the exact dates change, so check the official website before you plan around it.
Global Village is a good choice for the evening after a quieter day, or for the night you want something lively but not a full theme park. Plan on several hours, and expect it to be at its busiest at weekends.
Choosing by age, season and distance, and planning the day
A few rules of thumb make the choice much easier. With younger children, LEGOLAND Dubai and its water park are the natural pick. With teenagers, IMG Worlds of Adventure and MOTIONGATE Dubai offer the bigger rides. For a water day, Aquaventure World is the headline, but only in the right season. And for an evening with everyone, Global Village is hard to beat.
Season matters as much as age. From June to September, put the covered parks first and keep outdoor parks for the morning, if at all. In the cooler season you can mix freely. Our guide to the best time to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi explains what each month is like.
Distance is the last piece. Dubai Parks and Resorts is in Jebel Ali, IMG Worlds of Adventure is in City of Arabia and Aquaventure World is on the Palm, so do not plan two different parks on the same day. Arrive at opening, take a long lunch in the shade or indoors and leave before the children are exhausted. Check height rules for the main rides on the official websites before you promise anything.
- One park per day is the comfortable rhythm.
- Book tickets online in advance and compare combination options for your dates.
- Bring swimwear, towels and sun protection for any water park.
- Keep the evening light after a park day, or make it Global Village if energy allows.
How High Class plans your theme park days in Dubai
We start on WhatsApp with a short conversation: the ages and heights of the children, who wants the big rides and who prefers to watch, the dates of your trip and how many park days you have in mind. From there we suggest the parks that fit the group and the season, and check opening hours and ticket options for your dates.
We help you book the tickets, arrange a car with a driver to take you to the park at opening and collect you when the children are ready to go, and plan the rest of the day so nobody is exhausted. For families who want both Dubai and Abu Dhabi parks, we look at whether a night on Yas Island would make the trip easier. Hours, ticket conditions and ride availability change, so we confirm everything for your date before the plan is set.
If you are travelling from the UK, the US or India
- United Kingdom
- The UAE is 4 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 3 hours ahead during British Summer Time, so children adjust quickly. October half-term, Christmas and Easter fall in the pleasant season, ideal for the outdoor and water parks, but they are also the busiest weeks, so book tickets early. Entry rules depend on your passport: always confirm on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) and GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae) before you fly.
- United States
- With Dubai 8 or 9 hours ahead of the East Coast, children often wake very early for the first days. Use it: be at the gate when the park opens, when queues are short and the air is cooler. Keep the longest park day for later in the trip. Check your entry requirements on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) or GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae) before booking.
- India
- Dubai is only an hour and a half behind India, so there is no real jet lag. The long summer break falls in the hottest stretch of the year, so lean on IMG Worlds of Adventure and other covered attractions then; Diwali and the winter holidays are ideal for Aquaventure World and Global Village but busy, so book early. Visa on arrival applies only to Indian passport holders with a valid visa or residence permit from the countries listed by the UAE government; otherwise arrange an e-visa before travel. Always confirm the current rules on u.ae, ICP (icp.gov.ae) and GDRFA Dubai (gdrfad.gov.ae).
